How Soluna supports students

1:1 support on their schedule

Teens can connect with a trained Soluna Coach or schedule a session with a state-licensed counselor* whenever they need someone in their corner. No insurance needed, no waitlists, and absolutely free — just open, judgment-free support.

*Services vary by state

Self-guided skill-building

Soluna’s library of content and tools support teens in turning life's challenges into chances for growth. Inspired by positive psychology, Soluna's evidence-based resources urge users to embrace their strengths, values, and goals.

Nurturing confidence through connection

In our secure and anonymous community support spaces, youth find peers who get what they're going through. Whether sharing a story or offering support, every comment is reviewed by moderators before being published.

Real help finding real-world support

Soluna is more than an app. Whether it's finding a therapist, connecting to local agencies, or accessing food and shelter, our resource finder helps young people search for and connect with low- or no-cost services in their area.

Support that speaks their language

Soluna offers on-demand mental health coaching in English and Spanish — on students terms, in their time. They are able to get the support they need, the way they need it.

Why schools and students love Soluna

I love Soluna, it helps me so much when I need to talk to someone, it's easily accessible and I'm feeling much better after I chat with a coach.

Soluna User, Age 14

I finally feel like I am able to talk to someone, and it takes a huge weight off my shoulders. Being able to talk to someone trained to help me for no charge is wonderful, and I am happy to be able to use the app, and talk to people about my problems when I need to.

Soluna User, Age 15

We thought it was great. Were were shocked that it was free. Being a charter nonprofit, budget is always a concern. So having something that they could use at their own discretion, privacy of their own homes, or wherever they choose to really was a great benefit.

Soluna has helped me to understand my emotions and be able to work out various issues. It's a safe space that helps me to learn new things for my relationships, overall being, and mental health. I feel less depressed when having the Soluna app as a tool for me.

Soluna User, Age 14

It made me feel heard and safe like I can vent or tell someone in the chat what's going on and they'll actually do something about it which makes me feel hopeful and safe.

Soluna User, Age 17

Funding comes and goes. And we've partnered with other mental health companies to help bridge that gap. But this doesn't need a contract right? This isn't like, 'oh, we used to work with this company, and now we don't.' It's available for everybody, free for California residents age 13 to 25 in California. Something that's outside of school, having that constant is helpful.

It helps me unwind at night. I utilize the noise cleanse tool every night and it has been a game changer for me. I also get to track how I’m feeling with the mood tracker and see how my relationships affect me which is a cool feature. It makes me more aware of how certain people in my life make me feel.

Soluna User, Age 16

I have learned new things that I haven’t even realized applied to me.

Soluna User, Age 17

It's just been great to have another tool to offer and to have something that's after school, free during the summer. It definitely fills some gaps that we're not able to always provide services or supports or resources during those times. I feel better, having more resources and things that fill areas that we don't cover a hundred percent.

Meet Our Ambassadors

I believe technology, when used intentionally, can be a powerful bridge to support students’ mental wellness both in and outside the classroom. I’ve always sought out tools and resources that empower students to build self-awareness, resilience, and healthy coping strategies, and this app aligns perfectly with that mission.

School Counselor, California

As a high school counselor, I see every day how much teens carry on their shoulders. Becoming an ambassador for the Soluna app is my way of giving them a tool that helps them build real coping skills, not just survive the stress. Students deserve support that’s free, easily accessible, and easy to use. Soluna delivers that, and I’m proud to stand behind it.

School Counselor, California

I unfortunately don't have enough time to meet individually with every student, and sometimes students can't access therapy or don't feel comfortable with therapy yet. Being able to recommend Soluna is something I can do to support student mental health more. I love how accessible it is for students.

School Counselor, California

Mental Health Awareness is very important. As a high school counselor, I believe that our students need to feel safe, secure, and empowered. I believe that Soluna provides our students with real life skills and tools that they can implement in their daily lives. I love this app and love what it does to support our kiddos.

School Counselor, California

I love the work that you do and the impact that you have made to the families that I have referred. The free service that you provide has been a blessing to those that do not have access to mental health services. You have helped shaped many of our youths' future for good. Promoting your services is something that I already do in my job.

School Psychologist, California

I believe every student deserves free and quality mental health services. As a undergraduate student I was able to use this service so I know first hand of all the benefits Soluna provides for students.

College and Career Counselor, California

I’ve seen firsthand how beneficial these tools can be not only for my students, but also for my own children. Being able to share something I personally believe in and have seen make a difference would be a meaningful way to support the wellbeing of my school community and beyond.

School Counselor, California

There is a serious lack of mental health resources available to students, and I am very interested in any additional supports I can offer to students and families without concerns about barriers, such as insurance and location.

Frequently asked questions

Yes! Soluna helps schools fill gaps and offer additional layers of support for students during holiday and summer breaks. Seven days a week, students can visit Soluna's moderated peer community to connect and explore challenges, or they can access 1:1 coaching and counseling for help processing situations and feelings.

Yes. To access peer forums and 1:1 support, first name, last name, and an email address are required, but at no time is it visible to users in the platform. Users cannot chat directly or share personal contact information.

Our platform is designed to provide a confidential and youth-centered space where young people can access mental health support without fear of stigma. As a result, the user experience in the app is confidential unless there is a safety concern.

When Imminent Risk is identified in asynchronous content, a member of our team will send a message with crisis resources, seeking additional identifying information, and encouraging them to connect with us to better address the risk. If a risk is identified and the young person is under the age of consent in their state, our clinicians follow state-mandated reporting laws and duty-to-warn obligations, which may include contacting a parent or caregiver when necessary to ensure the young person’s safety.

No phone? No worries. The web version of Soluna lets teens connect with mental health support whenever they need it — right from a browser.

Soluna follows all applicable state laws related to parental consent. Depending on your state and the age of the student, they may need parental consent to use Soluna or request 1:1 professional support.

Soluna doesn’t replace what you’re already doing, it just amplifies it. It’s designed to fill the gaps when your resources aren’t available. It also helps reach students who may not feel comfortable accessing in-person support, or those who are navigating barriers like cost or stigma.

Soluna isn’t just more screen time for developing brains. It’s intentional, supportive, and designed for mental wellbeing. Unlike social media, it’s a secure space where students can build skills, find support, and take care of their mental health in ways that authentically fit their lives.
