Professional Support: Safe, Confidential Care

Expertly trained. Rigorously vetted. Real people.

Soluna practitioners are real people, not bots. Every practitioner holds qualifications in their respective fields of expertise and undergoes rigorous vetting before working with any young people on Soluna.

Our Practitioners

  • Bring specialised experience: Our practitioners include counsellors, therapists, and wellbeing practitioners drawn from a range of mental health backgrounds.
  • Backed by rigorous training and oversight: We ensure that all our practitioners are fully supported to provide the most effective care. We provide bespoke, in house training throughout the year. Support is available through mandatory clinical supervision (in line with professional body requirements e.g. the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) and flexible, responsive options to ensure that practitioners have the support they need for their casework and complex situations.

Getting started is easier than you think

1. Select "chat" You’ll find Chat on the Soluna homepage.
2. Choose how you'd like to chat

  • Drop-in: You can either join the queue for the next available practitioner. Available 12pm–10pm on weekdays and 6pm–10pm at weekends.
  • Book a chat: Choose a date and time that works for you.

3. Talk it through
Chats are completely text-based, with no voice or video calls, and can last up to an hour. Your practitioner will follow your lead, giving you space to talk about whatever’s on your mind. Because your chats are saved securely, practitioners can understand what you’ve talked about before and support you across future sessions.
4. Come back when you're ready If a drop-in chat isn’t available straight away, you can wait for the next available practitioner, try again another day, or book a session for a time that suits you.

What to expect during a Soluna chat

Support on Soluna is designed to feel easy, supportive, and pressure-free. You connect with a trained human practitioner (never a bot) who listens without judgement and helps you work through whatever is on your mind.

Our practitioners are real people

Every session is led by a qualified counsellor, mental health practitioner or emotional wellbeing practitioner, backed by a clinical team.

Sessions are flexible and accessible

There's no need for a referral from a GP or school, and no need to commit to an ongoing programme of sessions — you can drop in or book ahead, and support is always free and confidential.

Our professional support is centred in safety and care

A typical chat lasts up to an hour. You guide the conversation, while the practitioner offers tools, encouragement, and practical steps to help you move forward in a way that feels right for you.

You can change practitioners at any time

If you don't feel a connection, you can easily switch. Finding the right fit matters, and we make that easy.

Our professional support model is centred in safety and care

Every Soluna practitioner, in addition to their qualifications, enters a structured programme of ongoing training, supervision, and oversight designed to support you safely and effectively.

Training includes:

  • Youth-centred communication
  • Trauma-informed practice
  • Core safeguarding and risk-identification skills
  • Person-led practice to set goals and next steps
  • Making every contact count through chat
  • Supporting change behaviour and intervention

Safety steps include:

  • Clinical governance & audits: At least one session per practitioner is reviewed each quarter by a member of the clinical team, with feedback shared with the practitioner and their line manager.
  • Casenote standards: Every session is documented using a structured format covering presenting issues, intervention, risk and management, and outcomes — completed within 24 hours of the session.
  • Line management: Practitioners have monthly line management meetings to discuss caseload, training needs, and wellbeing.
  • Pre-moderation: All user-generated posts in peer spaces move through a pre-moderation process to prevent harmful or unsafe content from being published.
  • Escalation pathways: Safeguarding concerns are logged the same day and escalated to the safeguarding lead and/or team; concerns involving an adult working with children are referred to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) process.

Committed to confidentiality and safety

Conversations remain confidential except when there are concerns about safety, suspected abuse or neglect, or other circumstances where disclosure is required by law.

Parents, carers, schools, employers, and doctors can't see your activity on Soluna — we don't share that information with them. If we're ever concerned about safety, we may need to take action, which could include escalating to our safeguarding team, referring to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) process where an adult is involved, or contacting emergency services.

All data handling is GDPR-compliant, and Soluna is ISO 27001 certified for information security.
